Our story
From one pilgrimage to a life’s work
Aglow Pilgrimages is a fruit of pilgrimage. Here’s how a single trip to a small village in Bosnia and Herzegovina became our life’s work.
- 2005
A life-changing pilgrimage
Jonathan visited Medjugorje on a pilgrimage that changed his life. The existence of God became undeniable, His love unquestionable and His presence tangible.
- 2013
Aglow takes its first groups
After dozens more pilgrimages, Jonathan formed Aglow Pilgrimages to lead others on the same journey. The name comes from Romans 12:11: “be aglow with the Spirit”.
- 2014–19
Pilgrimages around the world
Parish groups, priests and pilgrims travelled with us to the Holy Land, Fatima, Lourdes, Santiago de Compostela, Garabandal and Guadalupe, alongside Medjugorje.
- 2016
World Youth Day in Krakow
Chosen as tour operator by several UK dioceses, including Leeds, Lancaster and Salford, we led more than 350 young people to World Youth Day with Pope Francis.
- 2020
COVID changes everything
Like every tour operator, we stopped travelling. It gave us time to ask what really matters, and the answer brought us back to where it all began.
- 2023
World Youth Day in Lisbon
We took seven dioceses from around the UK, close to 300 pilgrims, to World Youth Day in Lisbon.
- Today
Back to the heart of Aglow: Medjugorje
We believe Medjugorje is the most prayerful and spiritually enriching pilgrimage we’ve ever been on. So we now focus on it alone, with less admin and more time spent putting together the best pilgrimage we can. The jewel in our crown is the Medjugorje Youth Festival, and we’re adding lots more dates: we arrange everything on the ground and help you fly from the UK airport nearest you.
